Also to note, as of right now, the PPC versions of the replaced computers 
are still for sale. I don't know for how long, but my guess is, for at 
least a while (ie: not just a few days, but likely a few months).

So there is still time to buy a brand new PPC based Mac.

And once they are pulled, my guess is they will be available as refurbs 
from Apple for a while after that. And then you have the whole used 
market.

If Apple's transition between the 68k and PPC chips is any indication, 
10.6 will probably be the last version to run on PPC. At 18 months 
between major releases (Apple's stated time frame), that puts us 2-3 
years from now before the last OS version is released that works with 
PPC. Then another 18 months after that before updates have stopped and 
the first Intel only version is released. Then who knows how long before 
software stops supporting it.

So really, anyone that must have their Emailer, likely has in the range 
of 4-5 years from today before they have to make a really hard decision 
about moving away from it. Who knows what the face of email itself will 
be like in 4-5 years. New email concepts may force a change long before 
the hardware/OS do.
