Hi everyone! Whoa is me.
- After once again plugging the printer into the same USB port that had always worked under 9.2.2 and turning on all extensions in the 9.2.2 system folder (after having previously removed none), I rebooted into OS 9, chose the Printer and finally the Printer port side of the window showed: "USB#1". - I printed an email from CE, my only classic app loaded. So far so good. - Then, I went to the control panels, opened Startup Disk, chose "System" (OSX) and clicked on Restart. I have since spent an hour rebuilding the desktop (it took 15 minutes!), zapping the PRAM, trying to restart holding down the Option key, turning off any completely unrelated extensions, etc However, every time I hit Restart in the Startup Disk control panel (or for that matter from the menu bar), the desktop hangs indefinitely as soon as the Finder quits - the HD and Trash icons remain and the cursor still moves - but I can wait 10 minutes and nothing happens. I can only force a Restart and every single time I do that, 9.2.2. appears again! Is there any other way I can force it to reboot into OSX?
