NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL.O), the maker of the
Macintosh computer and iPod music devices, on Wednesday rolled out a
software patch under its plan to move its computers over to Intel
Corp.(INTC.O) microprocessors.
Apple said that the new software, called ``Boot Camp,'' enables Intel-
based Macs to install and run Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT.O) Windows XP
operating system software. Boot Camp is available as a download
beginning today.
Cupertino, California-based Apple said in June 2005 that it would
shift to microprocessors made by Intel, the world's biggest
chipmaker, from those made by IBM. It plans to move its entire
Macintosh line to Intel chips by the end of 2007.
