Along with word processing Emailer is my principal application. Bringing broadband into my home via ADSL + a router has made it all the sweeter, even though it is is only a half meg link due to distance from our rural telephone exchange.
However there seems to be no cost effective way of getting broadband over to my office in the adjacent building (ISPs would charge a second subscription). Best bet appears to be to run an ethernet cable 22 meters (70 feet) to a powered directional antenna that will then jump the 15 meter (50 feet) car park to the office, where it can be picked up on an existing omnidirectional antenna placed in the window and connected to an Airport Extreme base station. This is not exactly a cheap solution, nor am I even sure it will work - isnt there a limit of about 50 feet on ethernet cabe runs? Any suggestions much appreciated as we do really need to be able to use Emailer in real time over at the office building. (All on OS10.4.5 running Emailer in Classic). And I dont think we can hang about for WiMax - or dig up the car park. Bestest, Julian "Her voice sounded like an eagle being goosed."
