Ok, as of now Basilisk II appears to be stable and working mostly fine.
The only real issue is the video redraw seems to lag a bit. It feels a
little like I'm working over a remote connection like Timbuktu or Apple
Remote Desktop. Nothing show stopping, but not a fluid as I would like.

Other than that, Basilisk is a go on Intel Macs. Its even a Universal
Binary version.

I do need to address the issue of my Emailer hacks not working on 68k
machines, but I'm crossing my fingers that will turn out to be an easy
fix on my end (I never actually looked into doing them on 68k, so it
could be not much more than a recompile of the patch for 68k)

SheepShaver is now running on my Intel iMac, also a Universal Binary
version. Emailer for PPC (and thus my hacked versions) runs just fine.
Turns out the reason I couldn't get SheepShaver to start was actually
very simple and it dawned on me today at work while I was ripping unused
patch cables out of the underground phone cabinet. I had created the disk
image on OS X... that's fine as SheepShaver supports that image type...
however, I ALSO formatted it under OS X with the default settings... in
other words, I never set the drive as bootable under OS 9.

That was easily fixed. I created a new image (this time using a Basilisk
tool, just to be safe) then mounted my non bootable Classic image, and my
new blank image under Basilisk running OS 8. I then formatted the new
image under OS 8, and dragged the contents from my non bootable to the
new bootable image. Shut down Basilisk, started SheepShaver, and it
booted just fine into OS 9.0.4.

All that is well and done, but SheepShaver still isn't ready for use. You
can't type in it, the 2nd letter typed causes SheepShaver to crash. Also,
TCP/IP is very slow, and if you open the TCP/IP control panel, OS 9
crashes (but does accept the restart button on the crash dialog box, and
SheepShaver just keeps running happily). Finally, the alignment of the
cursor visually on screen with where it really is appears to be off by
about 1/4". Not a big deal, but it is a little annoying when you are
trying to select text or other items and the distance off is the width of
a letter or two (so I kept dragging starting at the wrong point and not
getting the first few letters of the text).

All of the above may be issues with settings in SheepShaver. I have to do
more research to find out. Otherwise, until they are addressed by the
developers, SheepShaver is on hold (I do have to look and see if there is
a PPC version of SheepShaver that may run under Rosetta and might already
have these issues fixed).

So that is the update as of now. More to come as I learn more.
