Sorry if I'm late but I'm on "digest".
Presumably your ISP provides you with webmail access so simply access 
that to delete the unwanted files. Alternatively, recreate your offending 
account in Apple Mail and use that to download these files (ensuring that 
it's set to "delete immediately").

Although the purist might endeavour to convince emailer to do its job 
properly, I think none of us can deny that it's decidedly "flakey" in the 
face of certain incoming files, so there comes a point where you have to 
use something else to fix the problem.
