This last week I have been having trouble with downloading mail from Earthlink. When downloading it stops at one of the Emails and won't continue to download. So I do a forcequit and reload Claris. When I come to download it downloads all of the incoming mail. In addition it is repeating mail that I received previously and for the past few days continues to download this same mail.

My first step was to delete all the mail I didn't want or had received before - but it keeps coming. My first effort was to go to the Earlthlink web site and delete there, but it still keeps coming; my second effort was to call Earthlink and get them to check their web site and delete from their end...it still keeps coming. I asked why when downloading it keeps stopping at one of the Emails and could this be a virus - and they said possibly. But they got rid of those Emails...and it still keeps coming.

Today I went to both laptops and made sure that they were equally deleted and that the settings were correct and made sure that both retained mail for '0' days - but still it keeps coming!

I am beginning to wonder whether it is wise to use system X and whether that is what is messing things up?

Any clues?

I haven't used Emailer for a few years, and can't check this out personally, but I'm wondering why you have checked of the option to keep mail on the server? Instead of checking off that option and setting it a zero days, uncheck it entirely. Maybe if you don't tell Emailer to keep mail on the server, it won't. Perhaps zero is the same as infinity in terms of retaining mail on the server. Perhaps Emailer assumes you wouldn't check off that box unless you meant to have the mail retained for a certain number of days. Make that change, then let us know if the problem is resolved. One thing is certain, you can blame OS X for many MANY things, but not this one.
