I can't speak to .Mac issues, but BellSouth frequently has problems
sorting out my account AND also working with various URLs and browsers.
I'm inclined to believe that the "customer service" aspect of ISPs has
gotten worse that it once was.

I know that when I call the BellSouth number to complain because
predictably I can't connect between 10 PM and 1 or 2 AM (the DSL modem
lights =seem= to indicate that it can't sync) I get an answerer with a
thick Indian accent who thinks if I'm not using a Windows computer the
problem is here and not BellSouth's. I'm getting closer and closer to
signing up with our Cable TV supplier for phone service and DSL... but I
hate to think of notifying everybody of the email address change.
