I would like to test this, if you don't mind. It would help me perhaps make the intel transistion later this year.
I've posted two files to the Emailer section of my web site <http:// www.mythtech.net/emailer>
Bas-Emailer.zip which is a Basilisk II 68k setup running OS 8 and Emailer 68k
SS-Emailer.zip which is a SheepShaver PPC setup running OS 9 and Emailer PPC (the SMTP Auth hacked version)
Both are complete and ready to go with everything you need to run OS 8 68k or OS 9 PPC on an Intel Mac under OS 10.4.x
Both come with a quick set of directions. Basically, you have to edit the prefs file to change the path references to match your own setup. Then you have to move the prefs file to your home directory and rename it so it starts with a period.
If anyone doesn't understand how to do the above, then you need to learn more about Basilisk or SheepShaver before you begin (and in turn, more about the OS X Unix core). Both tasks are easy, but if they are above anyone's head, then trying to mess with either setup is just going to give you even more headaches.
I also ask that people who don't need these right away, don't download them right away. I have limited upload bandwidth and each file is about 100 MB (mostly due to the fact that they both include a 500 MB drive image for the OS, Emailer, and whatever else you may want to put on them).
Also, both should be Universal Binary versions of the emulators, so in theory, these should run on both Intel and PPC Macs natively. Although frankly, I don't know why someone would want to use these on a PPC based Mac as those still support Classic (allowing of course for those that want to see what they may be in for when they move to Intel units).
I also highly HIGHLY recommend anyone who plans to download either of these to check out the Basilisk and/or SheepShaver web sites (google them) and download the full versions of them. That way you have the associated ReadMe files and directions, and the GUI preference editor. They were omitted from my setup as I was trying to strip it down to only what is needed to get this running.
