Started using Path Finder about a week ago (a nice Finder replacement). Rebooting to the Finder then launching CE restored normal behavior. I'd verified option three was good, but didn't mention it as it is basic troubleshooting, but should have noted that I'd tried that. And I really should have tried option one, as that is even more basic troubleshooting.
