Ack Pfft!
(sorry, I've spent too many years working for a market research
company... where it was all about statistic counting) :-)
In my opinion, any paper or electronic mail should be just
store&forward.
We give no cooperation to push-email, nor to IMAP.
Humm... I've come to REALLY love IMAP recently. I only use it on a
select few accounts, but used correctly, it is great. No longer do I
have to worry about which computer a particular email was downloaded
to. And I don't have to deal with the headaches of leaving mail on
the server, to download it somewhere else and re-file it. With IMAP,
I set folders that I want for offline storage and folders I want for
online storage, and I can read my mail, file to the correct places,
and then go to another machine and know that my mail will be exactly
the same.
This has been unbelievably handy recently as I've only been running
an email client at my house, everywhere else I log into my web mail,
and there is all the mail, stored in the correct folders, waiting for
me, just as if I was sitting at home using my mail client.
And I would not at all mind, a registration of every mail sent, by a
local democratic government that is imparcial.
WooHoo... work for the NSA in the US... they want a copy of all email
everyone sends. Oh wait... you said an "impartial" government... ok,
scratch that :-)
