If CE ran natively in OS X, I'd be all over it. But I will admit, having html support is a great thing. I can't run OS 9 because I need a lot of the apps in OS X, and I can't afford to have 2 machines running. I know a while ago, someone started looking into porting CE to OS X. Don't know whatever happened to that plan.

Tyrone, you are #41.

Re your interesting note below about telling developers what we need. I
wouldn't have known what to ask for before using CE - and in truth was
spoiled
from the beginning because its all I am familiar with. Nevertheless, I
know
instinctively that it satisfies all my needs for speedy operation
(filing, deleting,
sending, reading, format, ease of operation). As my archive of folders
and files have expanded over the years one can only wonder at how
efficient the program is. When I
open other programs (particularly web mail) its strictly LOVE CE even
more :) What
minor problems do exist appear to be with the interface - hard luck for
the others and
a nuisance to us!

Its no wonder there are no updates - I would be hard pressed to figure
out how to
improve it :) Can't help but sound glowing!!

Here we are, a diminishing number of Emailer devoteés.

I'm still using CE 2.0v3 on my platinum G3 minitower and Powerbook
540c.
I've tried a number of newer email clients and, like Mark, I've
come to
the conclusion that they just "suck." Anyone here have an opinion
(heh)
as to why the state of the art in email clients hasn't advanced in the past several years (of course, this is from a guy whose favorite word
processor is still Word 5.1a)?

Here's my 2 cents. First, I have to admit I've been off Emailer for
about 2-3 years now, using OS X Mail. It's OK, but you're right, it's
not Emailer. It sounds silly, but the biggest thing I miss from CE
is that I could manage a mailing list right in the app,
automatically. If an email came in with a specific subject, I could
have it added or removed from the mailing list. I digress. The
reason I think is that a lot of mail app developers (and developers
in general) are not asking their users what they want to do or what
they want the software to do. Think about what I said above, there
are plug ins that will allow some of that functionality in probably
most mail apps, but CE allowed it right out of the box. I remember
back when Microsoft shipped an early version of Excel, they actually
put a mail-in questionnaire in many magazines asking what features
people would like to see. That was the last time I'd seen that on any
product. Now it seems more like the developer wants to go in a
certain direction and force you to go that way, ie "you can have any
color, so long as it's black."
