If you miss the PowerBook 5300 badly, I still have mine. It was my first computer (of any kind) in 1995. It may have finally become obsolete with

the 5300, but after some 3-5 round trips to Apple for repair, and the
adoption of an expansion bay power adaptor, it became a rock solid
machine. I may still use it as a travel unit instead of my 'good'
computer.

I sometimes miss my PB5300. But not so much because it was a good machine, as the time of my life that I had it was good, so there are a number of great memories that revolve around it.

Mine went back to Apple several times, being fixed for every recall and repair extension they offered on it... plus several things that weren't common enough to ever be listed as official problems with the model. I had enough when I got it back from having the screen fixed for the 2nd time, and just a few days later, the screen broken again. At that point, I told Apple enough was enough and I didn't want it back, I wanted a different unit instead. After some discussion with them, it was decided because of the long repair history on my particular unit, they allowed me to buy a 1400 for a massively discounted price (the 5300 was no longer on the market, and although they actually said I could buy any PB they had for sale, the 1400 was the only one I could afford).
