That's probably right.  I made arrangement with my neighbor (who
is hardly ever here) to share his signal (he leaves the router on
all the time).  His router is LinkSys 11b.  He is no techie, and
he probably just turned the router on out-of-the-box, so it would
make sense that the IP address would be default.

Meanwhile, I have followed up on Chris' advice to go to the 
Sustainable Softworks site, http://www.sustworks.com.  I downloaded
IPNet Tuner and all the other stuff that they have there on 21-day
trial.  I am going to start working with it this afternoon in the
hope that I can find the cure.

I'll report the results to the list.  I have received one email
from a list person who has the same trouble, maybe there are more
out there.

Catchup:  the trouble is wireless which has worked for a long
time, now working at just a very few hot spots, but not working
at most - even though a strong signal is indicated - no connection.
