Bea: This is written in a helping spirit and is not meant to cause offense, but...
You must better learn the way Mac Classic and OS X interact with each other, or 'downgrade' to a Mac system that you are more comfortable with. The Emailer DB and Index files (Mail Database and Mail Index respectively) must reside in the 'Mail' folder of the 'Claris Emailer Files' folder of Emailer's home folder (whatever you have named it). The Emailer folder is likely in a folder named 'Applications (Mac OS 9)'. The Mail DB and Index files are the important ones to back up periodically. You should also back them up before attempting a rebuild of the Emailer Database - EVEN THOUGH - it is usually safe not to. You should look in the 'Mail' folder to see if the DB and Index are still intact... and have the appropriate size... and save them to an external drive. I think I can understand how difficult the transition to OS X must be for you. I have just come off two weeks coaching my Dad - whose Windows '98 and Eudora POP mail account at work behave enough differently than his Windows XP and Eudora IMAP account at home - that he has been thrown for quite a loop. Good Luck.
