Udo,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've been trying this all day. For
some reason I couldn't find "New Layout" to begin afresh - so I opened my
old label layout where I have my database of Christmas addresses. Under
View in the Layout Mode I was able to bring up New Layout/Reports under
Layouts and there I found Labels. The window shows a layout of 3 across
labels and only 7 down. I have to have 3 across and 11 down.

I should explain that I already have a number of label layouts in
FileMaker Pro 5
that I have been using for years (not altogether successfully in terms of
fitting to a label size). This year I was determined to fit a label
layout to the paper I have. I know how to change the layout dimensions
manually - which is what I've been trying to do.

I was able to do custom measurements and changed the settings to 3
across and 2.75" width x 1" height. When it comes to changing the
margins it runs into trouble, it tells me that the printer won't allow
full width of the paper to allow for 3 x 11 labels. When I go to print
it out to see how it looks I get the following message:

"The document c#1 could not be printed. The application fuh://local
host/private/var/root/Library/Printers/HP%20Color%20Laser
Jet%202600.app/contents/MacOS/printer Pro could not be found - 8882."

Am I right in thinking its the HP Color Laser Printer (which we've just
bought) is at fault? It has been printing other material but won't seem
to take FileMaker Pro - which doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas of
what the problem might be.

Bea
