I agree for that.. I have the same problem.

I would appreciate if Apple stops naming pictures with spaces,
and even more... I would like them to number with leading zeroes.

For support matters I shoot quite a lot of screen shats myself.
I would prefer JPG over PNG or PDF,
but I hate it that the names do not sort alphabetically.

Picture 11
Picture 2
Picture 21

While I  hope we find a solution for the quote matter, I am thinking..
could be tackle this with a FOLDER action, that grabs ANY picture*.png 
file and adds it as
P001
P002
P003

Or.. with a normalized date in it.. for tech support I prefer

P20070328a
P20070328b
