I did eventually get eMA to work, and I saved all my CE in a FileMaker
Pro db. Which I had to "lock" (get info) so it wouldn't change just from
opening it to look an an email. Because that requires another 330MB to
be backed up (again) every time I opened it. 

I can highly recommend EmailChemy ( www.wierdkid.com ) as far better
than anything else I've seen for archiving and converting Emailer to a
"future-proof" standard format, which you can then take to any other
email program. Fast, and reads the Claris Emailer message database
directly. No pokey, problematic applescripted exports involved. (That
can save about 3 days right there!)
