The posts which describe your experience(s) in transitioning
from Emailer are very valuable to those of us who are still
using Emailer, but contemplating a changeover.
I made the move some time ago. I thought it was last Christmas but my
"sent" messages seem to begin in January 2006. Doesn't time fly!
I did write about it at the time.

I tried several before finally settling on Apple Mail. The deciding
factor was my need for setting up lots of user accounts. Mail lets me
do this easily. The others didn't.
Importing old messages was tedious. I had to do it four folders at a
time. Any more than that and Mail would produce an error message. But
it wasn't difficult.
Importing email addresses into Address Book was also easy but lost a
lot of information, which I had to copy by hand.
Nowadays I'm quite happy with Mail and the only thing I (still) miss
is the ability to edit the subject line of incoming messages without
having to drag them into "Drafts" then out again, (losing the "from"
address in the process!)
