I am currently using Apple File Sharing on three computers at my desk: iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, OS 10.4.10, Ethernet wired connection to hub, to Netgear router PowerMac 8500, (upgraded to) G4/450, OS 9.1, Ethernet wired connection to hub, to Netgear router MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo, OS 10.4.10, wireless Airport to Netgear router I have the following connections made: iMac <- Apple File Sharing -> 8500 8500 <- Apple File Sharing -> iMac iMac <- Apple File Sharing -> MacBook Pro MacBook Pro <- Apple File Sharing -> iMac 8500 <- TCP/IP File Sharing -> iMac All the drives from all the computers are mounted on each other's desktops. I connect the 8500 to the MacBook Pro (Airport) by using the Chooser's "Server IP Address" button, instead of clicking a name listed in the Chooser's "Select a file server" lists. I do this because the 8500's OS 9.1 Chooser does not see the MacBook Pro. This is because my old Netgear router does not move the proper AppleTalk packets wirelessly, although it moves them properly by wired Ethernet. But connecting by IP address isn't a big deal. Just find the MacBook Pro's IP address (System Preferences -> Network), enter that into the Chooser -> Select a file server, and click the button. I will now unmount all the shared volumes, before I create a cosmic meltdown. I also have Timbuktu Pro installed on all three Macs. (Well, the two Intels are Macs, and the 8500 is a Macintosh.) For a real cosmic meltdown, I can cause a cascade of: iMac -> Timbuktu controls -> MacBook Pro -> Timbuktu controls -> 8500 -> Timbuktu controls iMac -> temporal anomaly Add the Parallels Windows XP installations on the two Intel machines, and I may have created a black hole. I have not figured out how to do file/disk sharing between either XP virtual machine and the Macs. Anyway, other than the XP sharing, it all works.
