Whoa hold on there, that should NOT be required.
I ran Emailer under classic for a long time and NEVER had to do
anything like you describe below.
All Classic applications should run happily from the OS9 Applications
folder.
Just make sure you have all the bits Emailer uses in the Emailer
application folder and in the right places.

As you know, I have migrated to an OS X machine, and it has Classic

You'll probably receive a more definitive answer from Chris @ mythtec.
However.... I'll give you *my* suggestion as to what you can do.
First, you don't tell us what OS you're using. However, since it has
Emailer installed, it must be a non-Intel version.
Second.... and most important.... your Emailer should be copied
to appear NOT IN YOUR OS 9 FOLDER, but onto your hard drive
for whatever version of OS X you're using. (Mine appears without,
i.e. outside, my Applications folder. (I don't know what would
happen if it were to be *inside*; I just know my Emailer works.)
So, I would take your Claris Emailer Folder *out* of the Applications
(OS 9) folder, and leave it outside, to where it will appear on the
list of items on your Macintosh HD, shown in sequence as follows:
Applications
Applications (OS 9)
automount
Claris Emailer Folder
Desktop
.......etc....
Let us know if this works for you.

(still hanging-in-there with Emailer... but gradually listing towards
Mail as a nuisance second.)
