Hiya Listers, Here's a brand new one (for me, anyway)....
Last weekend I "nuked and paved" my iBook (G3/800) to get a few more usable gigs of space on the HD -- turns out I didn't ever need to BOOT it in OS 9, just have an OS 9 System Folder on it to be able to run Classic, so I did it to get rid of the OS 9 boot partition and make a little more "room." (The boot partition wasn't big enough to put anything else on it, and I'm finally getting pressed for space.) The nuke-and-pave to single partition, OS installation and data restoration all went without a hitch, until I tried to open CE -- it won't open. Yes, Classic Mode was on, but when I double clicked the CE app icon after putting it in the Dock, it refused to open and popped me this error message; "Claris Emailer could not open the required file "Connections": because an unknown error (-5000) occurred. Press OK to quit." I clicked "OK," it quit, and then I opened up the CE folder to see if the Connections file was there. It is. All my other Classic applications opened up fine and I can use them -- just not CE. Any idea what's going on with CE? It should be noted that I have, numerous times in the past, successfully "updated" the CE in the iBook by flash driving it in from my G4 -- which is how I put it back in this time, along with all the other apps and data I restored this time. CE always opened up just fine after doing this in the past (until now). This is actually starting to make me seriously consider, for the first time, the idea of switching to an OS X native email client..... :-( Well, thank you all who can tell me what's going on here! :-) ~Yersinia. ________ "The early worm gets eaten by the bird, so sleep late." ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[email protected]> or <[email protected]>
