(b) the applicant worked for the U.S. Government as an employee overseas
in a Federal or military capacity; or

serving overseas.

*Position # 1:*   * Network Architect*



Responsibilities & Duties:
Architect, Develop, Design and Integrate complex CBP network solutions
with high-level OneNet architecture and strategy.

- Responsible for the design of the network architecture, network
infrastructure, and plans and designs for LAN/WAN/wireless solutions.
- Responsible for leading and directing an implementation team for
deployment of moderately complex networks in extremely high visibility,
mission critical sites for the US Customs programs.
- Create detailed network designs that meet the customer requirements
(including physical and logical) of moderately complex network systems
(and wireless) to meet the functional objectives of the business.
- Responsible for product engineering design of CBP equipment (including
survey report output and review).
- Analyze customer's existing network and infrastructure to determine
what equipment can be re-used and create bill of materials for those
items that are determined to be EOL.
- Create specifications of the as-built network and co-ordinate network
turnover to the customer.



Desired Efficiency:
5 years of IT governance experience is preferred.
5 years of Network Administration experience required.

CCNP certification is mandatory.  If candidate is not certified, he or
she MUST have equivalent hands-on Cisco experience.


Special Training Desired:
CCNP certification or equivalent experience is mandatory.

Unique Skills:

United States, Canada, and Caribbean

 *Position # 2:    Network Design Architect*



Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide requirements and document NW design definition
- Create advanced addressing and routing, security, network management,
and IP networking and wireless and satellite design and implementation.
- Planning and installation of bandwidth for enterprise performance and
capacity planning.

Work location is Bethesda, Maryland.  Occasional travel to the CBP sites
throughout the U.S. may be required (approximately 20% travel)

Desired Efficiency:
- Hands-on Cisco skills, configuring routers and switches
- Experience with performance diagnostics and troubleshooting


Special Training Desired:
-     CCNA certification is mandatory.
The Cisco CCNA network associate certification validates the ability to
install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and
switched networks, including implementation and verification of
connections to remote sites in a WAN. This includes basic mitigation of
security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and
terminology, and performance-based skills. This skill also includes (but
is not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior
Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame
Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2),VLANs, Ethernet,
access control lists (ACLs)

-     CCNP certification or experience is preferred.

*Position # 3:        Network Team Lead*



Responsibilities & Duties:
-Lead a team in the installation / implementation of new redundant
networks at CBP sites.

.         Configure on-site Cisco 45XX and 3750 switches to be installed
in a layer 3 environment, full redundant network

.         Update and reconfigure switches currently installed at sites
to a new layer 3 environment incorporated in the new network design

.         Test newly installed network for operation and full
redundancy. Perform fail-over testing of the WAN connections.

.         Install, configure, and test Cisco 1522 WiFi equipment

.         Create as-built documentation for the entire newly installed
network

.         Troubleshoot and perform problem resolution of the newly
installed network.



Desired Efficiency:
- Network architecture/design, network management and communication to
CBP technical team
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certification,
Troubleshooting and diagnostics, Network performance tuning
architecture/design, NW administration including installation,
configuration and security; development of monitoring processes;
capacity planning

Special Training Desired:
Cicso CCNP certification or equivalent is MANDATORY
                 [CCNP certification validates a network professional's
ability to install, configure and troubleshoot converged local and wide
area networks with 100 to 500 or more nodes. Network Professionals with
the CCNP certification have demonstrated the knowledge and skills
required to install and manage the routers and switches that form the
network core, as well as edge applications that integrate voice,
wireless, and security into the network.]

Cisco CCIE certification is preferred.
                 [CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) is Cisco's
highest level of professional certification.]
