Fundamental Perl CGI skills also a plus This is 12 months to start with and could go to 48 months *Title:* Sr. Engineer, Software Engineering *Location(s):* St. Louis, MO *# of Open Positions:* 5 *Desired Start Date:* 2/1/09 *Desired End Date:* 1/31/10 Rate: $20-25/hr (MAX) *Major Accountabilities: * Responsible for the technical planning, design, programming, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of systems application software. Accountable for software quality and service level agreements. Perform systems analysis and design of projects that meet the business needs of MasterCard. Consult with Business Owners on new projects. Ensure knowledge transfer of vendor technology to MasterCard staff. Maintain liaison with internal staff and vendors who have systems design problems or requirements. Support collection and reporting of project and software metrics. Analyze information systems encompassing potential user contact, analysis of goals, problem complexity and feasibility study, logic design and detailed systems flowcharting, analysis of input-output flow, hardware study, forms layout, resource evaluation, and cost and time analysis. Participate in implementation, including maintenance, user allocation, file design, coding, error removal, logic optimization, systems re-evaluation, testing, user approval, final corrections, and program and run time documentation. Write, debug, diagram, create flowcharts, code, and document programs. Prepare technical project plan, incorporating development costs and tasks of the various technical components. Support Disaster Recovery testing. Evaluate requests to determine technical feasibility, develop technical alternatives and recommend optimal technical solutions. *Role Responsibilities * Ø Translate Functional Requirements into Use Cases (design documents) Ø Translate Use Cases into robust code o Interface with the Business Analysts and Technical Leads to ensure that code development meets the needs o Interface directly with the European Business Team for Corporate Products in resolving development issues o Provide a pre-development approach document for review by the Technical Lead Ø Perform code walkthroughs with other Software Engineers and Technical Leads Ø Perform unit testing on the code developed o Ensure that code works as designed in the use case. Entails testing both happy day and sad day scenarios Ø Perform performance testing on code developed o Ensure that the code performs to standards. Entails testing both the code itself as well as database queries. Ø Fix coding issues found in testing or in production o Ability to take an issue via ClearQuest and diagnose and fix the issue with minimal to no assistance from Technical Leads Ø Participate in the Implementation process o Check code into PVCS o Cross Test other Software Engineer code o Assist in testing the application on release day *Experience Required: * Applies extended expertise of principles theories and concepts plus in depth knowledge of business/function and development life cycle, usually acquired through a minimum of six years of experience. Daily Activities / Skills Required Interfaces Ø Interface with Business Analyst, Technical Leads and Business Team o Communicate Status o Review coding design o Review coding via code walkthroughs Problem Solving Ø Attempt to solves issues by using o Extensive application knowledge o Ability to do extensive research through the application code base o Follow process flows of data/file input and output o Ability to interact with BA and TL o Ability to interact with Business team and European members Technical Skills Ø To perform the job effectively, the candidate must posses very strong C++, Oracle SQL, and UNIX skills. Fundamental Perl CGI skills also a plus.
