Is it possible that this is occurring (randomly, of course :-() because I did this in my EmpberlObject Templates and in the html files?

[$ var $this $]
[- $this = $shift; -]


And if so, would this be better?


[$ var $this $]
[- $this = $req_rec; -]

Well, to answer my own question. That doesn't fix anything, and in fact seems to work only some of the time.
