I wasn't able to make it manifest until now (that's why I left the config 
option for 4G in the kernel).

Yes, with the small info that a new kernel package is not needed, only a new 
rtai package (and that one is fairly small and easy to do).
I will update the CD though, when rtai-3.6.1 is released.
Until then I have a preliminary rtai package built, so if you manage to get 
bitten by the >1G memory problem, please let me know and I will send you the 
updated package. Then we'll confirm that this fixes it.
