Hi all,

I just downloaded the latest EMC source from trunk to try to debug another
problem. This version is requiring that the system be homed before any MDI
commands can be entered, a g-code program can be run, etc.

Since my configuration is steppers, I was able to just force a couple of
inputs (end of travel limits and door open interlock) and run offline. Now
it will not let me run until it is homed, but of course the home won't work
with the home input forced.

Under the sim configurations there is something called simulated_home.hal. I
added the necessary components and linked in this hal file, but the home
function still does not work. There must be something else which must be
modified.

Is it really necessary to require that the system be homed, or is there a
way to turn off this requirement? ISTM there are circumstances where it
should be acceptable to run without homing (i.e. G92), as the end of travel
limits should still stop execution if one miscalculates on the size of the
program to be run. It is particularly necessary in a situation like this
when trying to debug a specific configuration when not actually connected to
the hardware.

Regards,
Eric
