My shoptask is running 6.06, as are most of the other computers in
my house. My most recent PC build was in 2007 (not an EMC machine).
I installed Dapper and have been afraid to hit the "upgrade to 8.04"
button. That machine is my webserver, vmware server, etc, and I know
the upgrade won't be transparent. "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

One bad thing that Linux has copied from windows is that new versions
get bigger and slower. Given that the best latency sometimes seems to
come from older motherboards and CPUs, and that machine tools have MUCH
longer useful lives than normal computers, I'd like to avoid forcing
people to upgrade distros if we can.
