I do not know - I did not look at them... I suppose that puma.xml is for pyvcp, in which dials show joint positions. I just checked - INI file has the puma.xml in the PYVCP section. I have not checked the contents of puma_postgui.hal, but I suspect that it also will be devoted to pyvcp panel. I am ~90 km from that PC, so I cannot check them to be sure :)
So my conclusion - You need them, because INI file has reference to them. Or You can edit INI file not to load the pyvcp and them You can remove those files. I think it is easier to leave all the remaining config as it is, as I did not change it - I just edited the simulated machine and edited the settings in HAL file - set values of genserkins pins, which describe the arm. I made them so that they match the proportions of the simulated arm. You need just replace INI and HAL file in the puma arm sample config and replace the pumagui file.
