I have seen (here or on the forums) situations where it would be handy
yo cope with a pre-existing toolchain which outputs a specific and
slightly incompatible version of G-code. It could potentially remove a
barrier to adoption in some situations.

One other (though aesthetically unpleasing) situation would be
redefinign G2 and G3 in a situation where a preprocessor makes a bad
job of rounding the arc centres. The redefined codes could
re-calculate a best-guess arc centre with more decimal places.
