I think that Michael's remapping proposals strengthen this. If a
particular machine has a large library of parts in a slightly
different dialect of G-code, then that particular EMC2 installation
(In fact, as little as one particular machine Configuration on that
installation) can be made to emulate the previous control.
One good example is the BOSS retract style mentioned in a different
message, if a lot of G-code exists which assumes this, then the EMC2
installation could be relatively easily modified to emulate it.  But
only that machine configuration needs to be changed, not the whole of
EMC2.
