I notice that active g-codes and active m-codes are not updated
during auto mode (running a program).

Is there a good reason for this?

I want to detect when m7 and m8 are active and do something.
It works perfectly in MDI mode, but not auto mode.

I don't want to read the HAL pins.

I can see use in being able to read any active m-code at any time.
