Well, there is a bit of a problem after all.

Yes, the download includes the html and js code that make up the 
client-side interface and also the executable "emcweb" which presumably 
contains the actual server-side interface to emc2 internals, but the 
source for emcweb is missing from the subversion repository.

When I read the comments on the Wiki page "PageName" (which is actually 
the manual), I find this from January 2012:

"Hello all! I've added miniemc2 source code to the local SVN repository. 
It contains all you need to build the project, see readme.txt in the 
trunk folder. There is one restriction: WEB server's source code is 
absent at this time, only binary package. I plan to add it later when 
I'll have more free time to make building scripts."

Reading the two files "index.html" and "miniemc2.js" I get a good feel 
for what's going on (javascript and ajax do the trick) but the magic is 
in this server code. If you run the Linux command "strings" on the 
executable "emcweb" you'll see what I mean.
