I would second that and maybe add some of the following direction -- I 
would prefer that *all* low level library components come under the LGPL 
so that they can be used with other projects that one might not be able 
to open source.  On the other hand, if someone fixes a bug or extends an 
LGPL library it should go back to the community at large.  The high 
level interfaces cannot typically be incorporated into another project 
(unless that is a collection like the CNC Live CD).  So, GPL on the top 
end I do not have a problem with, but a little more freedom underneath 
is sometimes nice.
