Which reminds me of Citizens recent sliding head machines they have two spindles opposite each other front spindle will have all its operations done then the rear spindle moves to hold the item while it is parted off, during this time the two spindles are synchronised. after parting the rear spindle retracts to its working position and all back turning and milling is done while the front gets on with the next parts front side.
So part of the time a machine is effectively two lathes at others it is one machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDSC1EET9pc&NR=1&feature=endscreen this one has two milling slides to balance the cutting load http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkYNLlk6EE0 here is a good example of gang tooling on a sliding head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weJQS0WkqdY&feature=related Dave Caroline ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
