I haven't followed this thread, but Modbus should be working for single devices in a .comp or Classic Ladder. I've also worked on a .comp that connects HAL to a device description then to HAL pins. Another .comp uses the HAL pins to talk to a Modbus port. The plan was to have a third .comp route traffic between the device .comps and the port .comps .
