Boy it took me a while to figure out where this topic came from... The mailing list is so hard to read with top posting, bottom posting and all the junk that gets tacked onto each sig plus a copy of all the previous conversation... sometimes.
The forum software is so out of date we have missed one complete new version and a second version is out. Our current version of Joomla is 1.5.25 and the current version out is 3.something. Right now with thousands of blocked user names, email accounts and IP addresses I guess we get up to 1,000 spam registrations per day!!! I have seen 250 register in a couple of hours. If I block *@gmail.com then it is reduced to < 50 a day but the software sucks and won't tell you your email is blocked it just sends you back to the registration form. I've tried to edit the form and give some hints but I don't have access to Dream Host and that is needed to change the wording on a form.
