John;  I'd like to do the ultimate old fart (I'm 78) test install here, but 
the only quasi-sacrificial goat I have ATM is an older HP lappy that 
doesn't even have a parport.

It has a 1.6 ghz amd 'turion' 64 bit cpu, more than enough HD, and a gig of 
dram.  Its fast enough to function as a monitor if its 'ssh -Y target-
machine' and run linuxcnc, but its not as speedy as the dual atom boards it 
would be serving as a display of.

It already has the lcnc version of lucid installed, but needs a couple of 
hours to bring itself up to date when I next power it up.

Is this enough to do a test install following the directions below?
