I think we need a platform reporting script which pastebins the essentials of a configuration to a public link, and whose output is to be added to bugtracker entries
essentials are IMV: - kernel: dmesg report, uname -a - linux distro: lsb_someting, no idea - version information on linuxcnc: git log of the top commit - configure information: output of config.log, maybe config.h - build log - (detailed runtests output on failures) please add suggestions and details to this list --- the reason why I think this needs to be automated into a standard report is: asking the same questions over and over again is excruciating - and that happens in support questions all the time so might just as well speed up that process. Since this is an obvious thing to do, I would think there are examples or existing code to base that script upon - suggestions welcome. Until we have that - an appeal to folks asking questions: please consider the fact that developers dont stand behind you, and dont have a crystal ball or telepathic qualities. _It needs to be told what you have, and what you've done._ - Michael ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How ServiceNow helps IT people transform IT departments: 1.
