I have since found that if you define the C axis as a WRAPPED_ROTARY
then it is rather easier, and some of the complexity of that system
disappears.

I will also point out that you can't Home from G-code, but you can
certainly Probe from G-code, so a probe move follwed by a G10 might be
a way to re-align the C axis.
