It looks like you're running an old 2.5 prerelease debian package from 
the buildbot, on Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) with our RTAI realtime kernel.

That means you should be able to simply upgrade all the packages on your 
system and be fully up to date with the latest 2.5.3 LinuxCNC and all 
the updated Ubuntu packages.  You won't have to compile anything or 
change your configs!

If you *want* to build LinuxCNC from scratch, for your own enjoyment & 
education, you'll need to install git (there's a package for it in 
Ubuntu), fetch the source from our git repo, and install the build 
dependencies.  Instructions for doing all that are here:
