To provide some background info for the button: I added it for use on the BBB. When the BBB is connected to a PC (I usually use USB), LinuxCNC runs on the BBB, but the display gets forwarded to the PC, same happens with the config picker before running LinuxCNC. Editing a configuration is a bit harder. You need to set up a ssh connection, then run a text editor, or forward the display to the main PC. Like this you just click the button, and the default editing app is used and its GUI forwarded through the existing ssh connection.
Maybe we can make it configurable in ~/.linuxcncrc or such Regards, Alex -----Original Message----- From: andy pugh Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2014 9:51 PM To: EMC developers Subject: Re: [Emc-developers] Pickconfig edit button On 15 January 2014 14:44, Ing. Wouldn't they be editing their on-disc version rather than the sample config, though? So they have a fall-back option. I kind-of like the idea because I think too many users are unaware that the config files are hand-editable, and think that stepconf / pncconf are the only way. -- atp If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CenturyLink Cloud: The Leader in Enterprise Cloud Services.
