To provide some background info for the button:
I added it for use on the BBB.
When the BBB is connected to a PC (I usually use USB), LinuxCNC runs on the 
BBB, but the display gets forwarded to the PC, same happens with the config 
picker before running LinuxCNC.
Editing a configuration is a bit harder. You need to set up a ssh 
connection, then run a text editor, or forward the display to the main PC.
Like this you just click the button, and the default editing app is used and 
its GUI forwarded through the existing ssh connection.

Maybe we can make it configurable in ~/.linuxcncrc or such

Wouldn't they be editing their on-disc version rather than the sample
config, though? So they have a fall-back option.

I kind-of like the idea because I think too many users are unaware
that the config files are hand-editable, and think that stepconf /
pncconf are the only way.
