Greetings all; According to the error it left a message about, it could not find a defined VERSION in the .ini files [EMC] section.
Looking in the backup, it wasn't there. At this late date I can't swear as to the original install that generated this original .ini file, could be as old as a bdi install. Anything I have done to it since was done with a text editor. So that lack of a defined VERSION broke your script. Should it have? I fixed that, did not see a diff in the .hal file for that machine, and not knowing what the script would do if it found the backup already exists, I deleted the backup copy. But, it apparently did try to edit the .hal file, and now its trashed and linuxcnc upchucks. So how can I proceed now? debug.txt: Can not find -sec KINS -var KINEMATICS -num 1 3360 PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND Stopping realtime threads Unloading hal components I have a backup so its not a total loss, start over scenario yet. When I have recovered from the backup, is there anything else I need to add to either file before I try to run it for the auto-conversion to start all over. Obviously it touched a file someplace because it did not try to run the conversion script a second time. And I haven't located that file, so I need help in that department please. FWIW, my newer installs on the lathe and the G0704 converted well. Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
