It would to me also. But I was following the tut of someone else that did 
essentially what I did, for the same machine.

The finished conversion makes a heck of a lot better machine out of TLM, 
I should have done it years ago.  That, and putting a block of cast the 
same height as the compound on it in place of the compound, I can 
actually call it a lathe without feeling like I'm telling a lie.
