The mask also controls:

* whether G43 is automatically applied: Not safe
* Whether subroutines are passed a #<_n_args> parameter: Probably safe
* Something about mixed-case names. The docs say )-word names, the
example is a HAL pin: Not sure

Indeed, that seems safe.
