Greetings; Earlier today, while doing some rigid tapping, with the codes first operative lines being a g21 g7, it would not allow the code to load until I had gone to the F5 mode and issued those commands by hand.
Then it would load, but not run, the final z move was to 100mm's high, which was still several mm's from the Z home switch, but it still would not run until I had reduced the end clearance move to 50mm's. Neither were showstoppers, but I don't recall having that trouble, with that code the last time I used it, circa 4 or 5 weeks ago. And I found that one of my metric taps was a 5mm.9, not a .8? Needless to say, I scrounged up another 5mm.8 tap, and reset the g33.1 for a k.8 and re-tapped the hole. Bolt now fits. Where did the .9 tap come from? Its not listed in #27 as a std metric tap... Or at least I can't find it. And out here in the bluegrass music country, I can't buy such a bolt locally. Head scratcher for sure. And it appears I am going to need a ball nosed mill of about .462". Where the heck could I find one of those? Thats some less than a 12mm. And must be carbide, it has to shave the cartridge guide rails about 5 thou, turns out the creedmoor has less body taper per inch than the Ackley-06 has. And the Eddystone rails are hard, takes a carbide drill to make scope mount holes. HSS just bounces and dulls.
