That might be how the script scans "white space", I tend to mix tabs and spaces to look "purty" by having all the "=" in the same column. I can't think of any other plausible reason. Unless it is also somehow sensitive to TWOPASS, but I'd have to assume the script works before TWOPASS comes into play? Does the script keep a log someplace? I don't see any likely suspects in either /tmp or /var/tmp, or anyplace in the ~ tree. And its not been rebooted that I know of in about a month.
