I might point out also that IF prior to stopping LCNC, it is first run to
G0x0y0z0, that the current home state is very well preserved, and that
on the relaunch, it can be homed without any motion at all.

And I found my problem, a stupid typu in my gcode. I had measured that
panel probably 20 times at 11.8355", but for some reason I had entered
it as 11.18355 in my gcode. I made that right then took off more from a
x scale than I had added before a g0 panel_len + tool_dia put the
opposite side of the tool down only 3 red hairs past the other end of
the panel, so now my holes are laid out as I wanted them. I changed the
locations of the two interface boards, upwards about 100 thou, so the
psu's would fit under the boards, and I'll need to double check the
horizontal spacing yet to get a really good fit. And I made a new spoil
board. So as soon as the spray stuff gets here, I should be ready for a
fresh & sharp tool and make the 2nd version.

Jon, I did all that checking and found the timing impeccable although I
never saw the first step pulse arrive after the dir change when the
scope was set to measure that delay. Apparently the 7i76 delays the
steps at least 20 mili-secs after a dir change, and waits even longer to
turn off the dir after the last step has been issued. That may be an
artifact of sending it in two consequitive sserial packets

So, I think I am finally ready to carve ALU. If I just had the coolant
misters. The earliest estimated delivery was today. Ditto some real 6mm
carriage bolts for holddown clamps.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
