My biggest problem is that no matter how many times I build a fully pre-emptible kernel 4.19.y-rt using the raspbian git clone of their whole kernel tree, then branch 4.19.y-rt, it will not boot on a pi3b. Always hangs halfway thru the boot. And there is not a realtime branch of 4.14.y in the raspi kernel git clone. It will set that branch, but theres no realtime there. Then after 4 passes at that 4.19.y-rt install, cleaning out media etc I don't need, then it can't find its own / filesystem by its PARTUUID, so I obviously deleted something it needs. So, while the pi3 has the iron to run the machine just fine, I am stuck with 1.7 fps video. And I have overwritten that jessie install sd card. So ATM the machine is DIW. So, I going to take that same build recipe, assemble an interface and 7i90HD card with some blown by noise output gates, and see if I can build a fully pre-emptible sd for a pi4. Which means I'll have to solder some power leads to the cable adapter because I don't have an otg power plug, and I have heard the otg pluggin, used as a power feed, doesn't work that well anyway, so it will need power on its header, which its running fine with right now and has been since the day after I got it. Either that, or I shitcan all the pi stuff (by-by $400+ and over 2 years time) and see if I can find a good D-525MW board on ebay and install our last stretch based iso. But I'll have to study what Peter has that might let me salvage some of the drivers as I'll need at least 3 encoders and a boatload of i/o. Has anyone here used a 7i90HD (with 7i42TA's of coarse) in parport mode direct from a D525MW's parport? Is it fast enough to run the machinery? Exploring possibilities here.
