all the packages you mentioned are runtime dependencies, please add them.

OK.

the problem you see is python2/3 related, but you cant fix it with
update-alternatives. I suggest you undo that, as it migh tbreak other
packages.

OK.
As it happens, I have found the source of at least some of the problems and
am preparing a commit.

for glade to work you need to run it from commandline with a rip
envirionment, which sets the paths.

That is what I am doing.

the problem is the buildin python interpreter in glade, which is set at
compile time of glade.
the only solution is to update to a newer glade version.

I am running 3.22.1, which appears to be what apt installs on Buster.
Though I see a 3.38.1 on https://glade.gnome.org

looks like debian 10 doesnt have glade with python3.

I see 3 solutions:

- build a glade package with this patch:

https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/glade/commit/307509c055a6fa21fce1eda03c9dc92eb511381d

sudo apt-get build-dep glade

apt-get source glade

apply patch

debuild

install deb

maybe we should ship this deb on the linuxcnc repo.

- update to debian 11 bullseye preview

- run ubuntu/mint which comes with glade3 with pyhton3 support
